The National Science Foundation's (NSF) Division of Polar Programs (PLR)
in the Geosciences Directorate is seeking an Associate Program Director
for Antarctic Research and Logistics Integration in the Antarctic
Sciences Section (ANT). This full-time position will be filled as a
Federal Temporary Appointment not to exceed 13 months with an option to
extend, not to exceed three years.

The incumbent assists in planning and implementing, in partnership with
the Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics Section, complex field
programs across ANT's five disciplinary programs and the integrated
system science program. The incumbent also is expected to improve
planning with international and other Federal agency partners; monitor
program resources to insure integrity and consistency in the
grant/declination process; assist in developing short- and long-range
plans, establishing objectives for research programs, and program
evaluations; and promote a healthy balance of support for all the needs
of the research and education enterprise either through program,
division, directorate, Foundation, and interagency activities.

Applicants must have a PhD in an appropriate field, plus four or more
years of successful research, research support, research administration,
science support and logistics planning, and/or research support
managerial experience that demonstrates a progressively increasing level
of responsibility; OR a Master's degree in an appropriate field, plus
six or more years of successful research, research support, research
administration, science support and logistics planning, and/or research
support managerial experience that demonstrates a progressively
increasing level of responsibility. An appropriate field is defined as
any area of biological or solid-earth science that is pertinent to the
activities of the ANT Section. Prior experience in Antarctic research is
useful but is not a requirement.
