The Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) announces a call
for nominations of climate, environmental, socio-economic, and
adaptation policy experts to participate in the Arctic Council's
Adaptation Actions for a Changing Arctic (AACA) project as lead and
contributing authors in the Bering/Beaufort/Chukchi regional assessment
report.

The overall objective of the AACA is to enable more informed, timely,
and responsive decision making in a rapidly changing Arctic. Climate,
environmental, and socio-economic drivers may interact and amplify
changes in the Arctic. Traditional assessments of related issues have
focused on single pressures such as acidification and persistent organic
pollutants. There is currently little understanding of how these drivers
may interact. Such understanding is necessary to inform stakeholders and
decision makers as they prepare to respond to a changing Arctic.

The AACA will focus on three pilot regions: the Bering/Chukchi/Beaufort
region, the Baffin Bay/Davis Strait region, and the Barents region.
Regional implementation teams, supported by a group of coordinating lead
authors, will oversee the preparation of the regional assessment
reports. Coordinating lead authors will be responsible for ensuring high
standards in chapters of the reports.

Nomination deadline: Friday, 27 June 2014.
