Organizers of the Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP) announce that
applications are now being accepted for the 2014 summer expedition.
Applications are open to senior high school, undergraduate, and
graduate-level students. The expedition will run 22 June-17 August from
Juneau, Alaska to Atlin, British Columbia, Canada.

During this expedition students will receive training and experience in
backcountry skiing, glacier travel, and crevasse rescue; participate in
JIRP's long-running mass balance and surface elevation surveys; receive
lectures from scientists on natural sciences topics including
glaciology, geology, climatology, meteorology, biology, and ecology; and
perform individual research projects. Students will present their
research project results at public symposia in Juneau, Alaska and Atlin,
British Columbia, Canada. Eligible students may receive academic credits
for participation in the program from the University of Alaska
Southeast.

Some scholarships are available.
