  1. Call for Abstracts
    Ocean and Cryosphere Observations Session
    World Weather Open Science Conference
    16-21 August 2014
    Montreal, Canada

Organizers of a session entitled, "Ocean and cryosphere observations and
their assimilation" announce a call for abstracts. The session will
convene at the World Weather Open Science Conference from 16-21 August
2014 in Montreal, Canada.

This session will focus on the on the provision of accurate measurements
and their assimilation into numerical models for weather prediction and
climate simulation. The sensitivity to changes in climate forcing at
high latitudes is due, in part, to the strength and complexity of
feedbacks prevalent in polar regions. Better understanding of the
coupling of the atmosphere-ocean-cryosphere involving the exchanges of
heat, momentum, moisture and other gases, and the feedbacks that can
amplify or dampen the system responses, will result from more accurate
in situ and remotely-sensed measurements as well as refined assimilation
of measurements into models.

Organizers seek abstracts for presentations that address all aspects of
ocean and cryosphere measurements and their assimilation into all
classes of ocean, atmosphere, land, and climate models.

Abstract submission deadline: Monday, 24 February 2014.
